Creative Writing Workshop with Our favourite Ghost Stories- Curious Thoughts Academy’s Public Creative Writing Workshop 2017

In this workshop, Teacher Shuohan (Former MOE teacher of top SAP school) will share writing tips on how to write like the authors of your favourite Ghost Stories.

This workshop will be taught taking reference from some popular Ghost Stories (Singapore True Ghost Stories and Stephen King's scary novels); workshop participants will be taught to identify elements in a narrative structure, such as plot, characters, setting, theme and point of view (to build up suspense and conflict). Participants will also be given the opportunity to write their own ghost story featuring their own characters.

> Suitable for children aged 9 to 12 years old.
> Cost of Workshop: Free

At Curious Thoughts Academy, children learn to be curious, critical thinkers with our through-train English curriculum for children aged 2.5 to 16 years old. We are a Victoria Carlton Literacy Centre and we aim to transform how kids read, write and comprehend effectively with our Phonics and STAR programme. Our flagship programme is the Students at Risk Targeted Intervention (STAR) Programme that helps children with reading difficulties to transition from pre-primary to primary school, helping them get ready for the MOE primary school syllabus.

Centrally located at 51 Waterloo Street, Curious Thoughts Academy is run by husband-and-wife team Yao Shuohan and Lydia Lok.

Teacher Lydia is a professionally certified Victoria Carlton Jolly Phonics teacher who has been teaching young children Jolly Phonics for many years. Teacher Lydia is also a Social Entrepreneur and the author of “Where is Dan?” and “Who is Koko?”. Her books has been distributed to over 700 children and is used as a teaching aid in local primary schools. She was also invited to be a part of Talking Books on 93.8FM’s with Michelle Martin.

With a teaching career of over a decade in St. Joseph's Institution, Swiss Cottage Secondary School, and Riverside Secondary, Teacher Shuohan is a sought-after teacher for his ability to teach the English language in a clear, easy-to-understand manner, paired with fun and engaging lesson plans. His students have consistently shown remarkable improvement in English and Literature and he is well-known in Singapore for coaching ESL students who come to Singapore with a weak grasp of English, turning them to become confident English speakers and writers.
